ROTOGRIP Automatic Snow Chains

Especially suitable for commercial vehicles with limited fitting space RUD Ketten presented a further development of its tried and tested Rotogrip spinning chain at the Nutzfahrzeug-IAA (commercial vehicle exhibition). The Rotogrip CS has been specially designed for commercial vehicles and buses with limited space for fitting chains. CS stands for "compact solu-tion", and emphasizes that the new Rotogrip can even be fitted alongside low profile tyres and pneumatic suspension components.

This new version is a further development of the tried and tested RUD Rotogrip systems. They have proven themselves not only for heavy vehicles and snow clearance but also for delivery work and transport under the Road Regulations for Hazardous Goods. These rotating chains – also known as spinning chains – can be brought into action electro-pneumatically from the driver's seat, while the vehi-cle is under way.

Saves space – gives grip
The ever smaller fitting space available around rear axles of new model vehicles has created a demand for rotating chains which require far less fitting space. With the Rotogrip CS, RUD meets the demands of customers and the commercial ve-hicle market. This new version requires substantially less space for fitting than the classic Rotogrip, which will continue to remain available in the snow chain manu-facturer's range.

The patented design of the chain wheels is identical in both models. Both versions of the Rotogrip have pre-tensioned springs, which provide smooth running and are easy on the tyres. Only RUD offers these features, which really prove themselves on winter roads. (??) The springs also ensure that large stresses on the square chain strands cannot damage the Rotogrip actuating unit. However, this is itself very robust as it is made of tough and strong forged steel.

Vehicle-specific fitting kits
Wearing parts can be quickly and easily exchanged. That pays off in the hard daily work of commercial vehicles. All in all, the Rotogrip CS does not require a lot of effort in fitting or maintenance. Tailor-made fitting kits for the common makes of commercial vehicles substantially reduce the fitting time. RUD makes three types of spinning chains. The Rotogrip 1 is the tried and tested basic version that is primarily used on heavy trucks and for snow clearance. Ro-togrip 3 is the right solution for vehicles without a compressed-air system. It is powered by a 12 or 24 volt electricity supply. This enables drivers of delivery vans and ambulances, for example the Sprinter class, to switch on the chains from the driver's seat whenever they are required. The range of products is rounded off by the new Rotogrip CS.
